Perfect fit for my '97 Optima 850

I replaced my failed heater that was tripping my GFCI breaker with this. Perfect fit and now my water is hot again!

Great Fit

This was an easy replacement job, hopefully it lasts the 18 years I got out of the original :-)
I wrapped it with two layers of self adhesive foam/foil insulation and a small amount of aluminum duct tape. I think it will hold heat much better.

The right part and price

I had left water in the hot tub over the winter but turned the power off. The water in the heater assembly expanded and broke the heater canister and cracked a housing in another location. A local service estimate just for the heater was $280 ($540 installed) so luckily I came across this one. Honestly pretty hesitant about the low price but comparing side to side looking at replication, weight, canister quality and tube connection points I was thrilled. I've had it in for a month with no problems. Other notes: the thermostat goes back onto a sealed slot and the calking is only to hold it in place, not to keep water from coming out. Also instead of paying for a thin insulation blanket I bought a $5 large, 1/2" thick, neoprene pipe insulator, covering the canister side to side (none at mounting face) and top and bottom. I used metal HVAC tape to keep it all together and ended up with a cheaper and better insulated heater assembly for next winter.

Perfect fit and function

Not only did this new heater arrive quickly, which was important as we have been hitting freezing temps in St. Louis since mid November, but it was a perfect replacement for our heater on our 1999 Sundance Optima. Took only minutes to install and our hot tub was 104F by the next morning. Reuse your existing thermostat, plug in it the body of the new heater with some silicone, and bolt the unit right to your spa control housing. Attach the two wires, flipped the breaker back on, and action! Very pleased with the price, the ease of shopping, quick receipt, and product performance.
